About Us
We are a committed group of high school students of all grades 9-12. Supported by a group of dedicated volunteer mentors from the community, we work year long to learn skills in robotics and engineering. Students design, build, create, wire, code, and create everything from scratch. All while running the business and social media to support our work. This is all done under the guidance of the mentors who bring us real world experience, and teachers who guide our learning environment and dedicate their time.
However, it is More Than Just Robots. We are learning the character traits that employers are seeking. We learn about hard deadlines, problem solving, commitment, team work, dedication, integrity, critical thinking, and the growth mindset that we never give up, although things rarely work the first time. We become a family that works and thinks together to achieve various goals for whoever needs help in our community.
In our years of competing in FIRST Robotics, Banting Robotics won some very prestigious awards. In our first year, we won the Highest Seeded Rookie Award at the Georgian College event. At district championships, of 80 teams, Banting Robotics won the Judges Award. The Judges Award was given to a team that impressed the judges on all levels. In our second year, the team won awards for Autonomous Driving at both of our events. Most recently, in our fourth year of competing we were honoured to receive the Engineering Inspiration Award at our McMaster University District Event.
