Robot Hits the Stage at Barrie, Europa
If you were attending the Simcoe County Theatre Festival for the Barrie, Europa play in June, 2022, you might have seen a man acting like a robot… but wait! What if ‘he’ really was a robot…
The director of Barrie, Europa, Rochelle Reynolds, reached out to Banting Robotics prior to the play to request the creation of a ‘Europatanian’. Reynolds gave the Banting Robotics team all freedom to design the character, with the only guideline being that the character appeared like a ‘mannequin on wheels’. Thus, our team took on the challenge, first creating artistic designs to determine the appearance of the character. Afterwards, the character was constructed, given special accessories and clothes to fit the crazy, galactic tone of the script!
